Welcome to The Path To Mindset Mastery! My name is Brad Bizjack! I’m a Mindset Strategist and Coach, inspirational speaker, and creator of Appreciation Academy and I help online business owner’s breakthrough all the negative self-talk holding you back from your dreams so you can finally see the success you deserve! This is the weekly spot to break through everything that’s holding you back from the life you really want!
Over the last couple episodes, I've been talking about the Coronavirus (mind-set) and about how it's going to get worse before it gets better. However, we can adopt a positive mindset to overcome all the negativity around us. But I've also been teaching her how to adopt a great mindset through it because I know you feel the negativity right now. There's so much uncertainty in the world right now and what we all need are strong leaders. People rise above the noise and remind of all the good…remind us that we WILL get through this!
In this episode, I’m telling you how to be a leader during this time.
This is not the first-time global panic has set in (and it won’t be the last!)
You can still choose to be emotionally centered right now. You can choose to get your mind back because right now your spirit is being taken from you. The world is going to a place of reactivity instead of a place of proactivity. It’s easy to turn your back on the people that need you (because you’re afraid), but now is the time to LEAD and be the positive voice (in the sea of negativity!)
These are my tips for leading during this time:
1) Release judgment
It's so easy as a personal growth expert (that’s you) to see your way of thinking as the right way.
We might see what other people are doing as ‘the wrong way’ and all that does is makes them feel judged. If I’m being super positive, loving, happy, but everyone in my newsfeed is being scared and sharing horrible news, it would be very easy for me to see their opinion as wrong (and chances are you've done that too in some way, shape or form).
My challenge to you, if you’re going to lead during this time is to do it without judgment. If we're going to influence people to help & serve others, we can’t do it from a judgmental place.
Have compassion and realize that people who are posting negative things, they’re just scared (and that’s okay!) They have every right to be scared right now. There is nothing wrong with them being scared right now. It's okay that they feel that way. But if you want to help them, if you actually want to move them, you can't see their opinions as negative, but you can inspire them to perhaps reframe some of their thoughts. The way to do that is to honor what they think, honor how they feel, to love them (exactly where they’re at).
Start with “I can respect how you're feeling…” Then you can challenge them to step up, but it has to come from a loving place (and do it without judgment). Judgment and compassion cannot coexist.
2) Be the example
If you want to lead (your team, kids, family), you must be the example. Monkey see monkey do.
How do we do that? We need to deal with the reality of the situation. We need to see it for what it is. It is a very real, very scary thing. It's not what you say to them. It's how they see you reacting.
We need to take control of our health and wellness.
We need to take control of our mindset
We need to continue our routines.
We need to take responsibility for ourselves first and then spread that mindset to others through a place of non-judgment, from a place of compassion, from a place of love.
If you’ve been negative about the situation, let it go (it’s in the past!) We're not going to judge ourselves for how we responded. Instead, what can we learn from it? How can we grow from it? How do you want your team to respond right now? Do you want your team to respond in panic? Do you want your team to respond in opportunity?
Another way to look at it… The world is in panic and we have a beautiful opportunity right now to help people get through it because while the world is panicking, you get to be the beacon of light. When there's widespread pessimism, you get to be the optimist. When people are hoarding, you get to give. This is the time to double down in the positivity you spread to the world. You need to be the example, not a follower. Followers right now are going to consume negativity.
They're going to hoard.
They're going to be greedy.
They're going to blame.
They're going to be resentful.
They're going to talk about the present in a negative way.
They're going to talk about the media in a negative way.
They're going to talk negative, negative, negative, negative, negative.
Be the example of a glowing light of love.
You have a social responsibility right now. Write this down: PEOPLE NEED ME.
Who needs you? Who needs you to be your best right now? Who do you need to influence right now and how would you do that from a place of love? How would you do that from a place of not worrying but certainty? How would you bring certainty to your leadership and be calm and confident during this time? It's up to you how you do that! And chances are the way you teach other people to respond is the same way that you course-correct yourself.
We teach what we need to learn.
So, if you need to learn something yourself, share that with your team. If you aren’t willing to be vulnerable during a time of chaos, that's where people aren't going to trust you. Vulnerability is not about saying, “I’m flawed.”
It's about saying, “Hey, I accept things that I've done incorrectly, and this is what I've learned from them and this is how I can grow from this!”
How I can take responsibility for them because there's a very big difference between blame and responsibility. If you're a leader, you don't blame.
You take responsibility!
You don't blame.
You don't get mad.
You don't get upset about things.
*And if you do, you bounce back and you get back to that leadership role!
Blame is focused on the past and what went wrong. Responsibility is focused on the future and what you are going to do about it. Very different mindset! The world is panicking right now. You need to be the beacon of light for them. You need to serve them. You need to love them and care about them. Give them that warm hug. More than ever right now we have a social responsibility.
Who needs you?
Who needs you right now to step up and lead yourself?
Who needs you right now to be a beacon of light?
What does your team need to see from you?
What do they need to see and what are you going to do to deliver that for them?
This is where you take what's negative and turn it into a positive. You start planting these seeds to help and serve people on a bigger level than you ever have before! This is your time of opportunity.
My call to action: Share this podcast! Help people reframe their mindset and be a leader when the world needs it the most!
