Let’s chat about the perfect morning routine.
But first... Welcome to The Path To Mindset Mastery! My name is Brad Bizjack! I’m a Mindset Strategist and Coach, inspirational speaker, and creator of Appreciation Academy and I help online business owner’s breakthrough all the negative self-talk holding you back from your dreams so you can finally see the success you deserve! This is the weekly spot to break through everything that’s holding you back from the life you really want!
So, let’s chat about morning routines. Have you ever created the PERFECT morning routine? Wrote it all out, minute by minute, but when you couldn’t complete your ‘perfect routine’ EVERY morning, you would get frustrated? If you missed your morning workout or meditation, you’d be stressed out because it didn’t go exactly as you mapped it out that morning??
Let me ask you…what is the intention behind your morning routine? What is the intention behind anyone’s morning routine?? The purpose of a morning routine is to prime yourself! To help you feel alive, so you can crush your day!
So, when you feel stressed or disappointed or frustrated when you don’t complete your morning routine exactly how you mapped it out… that’s perfectionism.
Perfection is not possible.
Stop putting it as an objective. It is not possible to be perfect.
What is the likelihood that you're going to be able to do your morning routine the way you planned it out every day (especially if you have kids)?? 0%
There is a 0% chance your morning will go exactly as planned every day. So, you’re setting yourself up for failure. That's not a fun place to be. The purpose of a morning routine is to prime your day to be successful, not to be perfect. There are going to be days when you have so much time and you’re able to get it all done…cool! Do it! That’s fantastic and you’ll feel primed and alive!
BUT if the purpose of your morning routine is just to complete the list, you're doing it wrong.
The purpose of a morning routine is to feel alive. Can you feel alive without doing all the things on the list? Yes! Of course, you can!
So, on the busy days that you have other things going on, I challenge you to ask yourself “What can I do today to prime myself to feel great?” Is it possible to do that with a 5-minute routine? Yes. Is it possible to do that with a 4-hour morning routine? Yes! You can do either one and it primes you to feel great, but you need to realize that just because you miss a morning routine item does not mean, your business is going to fall apart. It does not mean you failed at a morning.
Give yourself permission to be flexible with your morning routine. That way it becomes less about doing it right and more about doing it for the right reasons (which is about priming yourself to feel alive!)
Let go of perfectionism with your daily habits and allow yourself to do them imperfectly. Allow yourself to focus on the intention (instead of just checking the boxes).
